Special Olympics State Winter Games: Cheer on over 400 athletes as they go for the gold in Alpine Skiing, Cross-Country Skiing and Snowshoeing! For three days, athletes from around the state will compete in the Special Olympics Illinois Winter Games at Chestnut Mountain Resort in Galena. Head to downtown Galena for the Winter Games Opening Ceremony. Ice Golf Classic: Golfers will enjoy this outdoor event where teams of four actually play golf on the ice at the Midtown Marina.  Bring your clubs (we provide the tennis balls) and your sleds and have a good time out on the ice while enjoying the 18 hole course.Not the best golfer? Don’t worry, there will be awards for best sled and best dressed team. There will be a raffle, food, drinks and prizes. Proceeds help the St. Mark’s Enrichment Center. (Feb.10, 2017)

Grants Home Front-Civil War Encampment: The two day event will include Living History stations, Civil War reenacted battles, Period Dance, Bazaar offering period items. living history stations in camp will include, black smith, infantry, artillery, medical, musicians, and dance. U.S. Grant/Boy Scout Pilgrimage: The U.S. Grant Pilgrimage is a weekend full of activities for the general public and scout groups, celebrating Ulysses S. Grant’s birthday. Enjoy Civil War reenactments & encampment, the Galena Fire Department’s bucket brigade and watch as Midwest scouting groups parade down Galena’s Historic Main Street. (April 21-23, 2017)





Ride the Ups and Downs Bicycle Ride: This bicycle ride is a one-day tour of beautiful Jo Daviess County, Illinois that features hilly terrain, spectacular ridge top panoramas and long valley views. Hunter Furste and His Vintage Orchestra at Turner Hall: The Galena Foundation Concert features the nationally recognized, 14-piece Hunter Fuerste Orchestra. You’ll be transported to another time with their authentic re-creations of the hits from the big band era from 1935 to 1945. Orchestra Director, Hunter Fuerste, painstakingly scored the music for each musician in his entire orchestra by listening to vintage recordings on 78 rpm records. Performances regularly feature the hits of Glenn Miller, Tommy and Jimmy Dorsey, Artie Shaw, Benny Goodman, Harry James, Count Basie and many others. Sponsorship tables available. Galena Independence Day Celebration: Galena’s downtown Fourth of July celebration, which is organized by the Kiwanis Club of Galena will kick off with live music by Dr. Mark and the Sutures at the Green Street Plaza at 2:30pm. The annual community parade begins at 6 pm, featuring local businesses, floats, bands, marchers and fireworks. Following the parade, enjoy the live entertainment provided by Ten Gallon Hat and food and beverages by the GOATS cycling club in the Green Street Plaza until the fireworks begin. The fireworks will launch from Grant Park at dusk. With free admission and a full day of fun. (July 4, 2017)

Stockton Independence Day Celebration: Stockton, Ill. has a population of 2,000, but on July 4th thousands more people roam the Stockton Memorial Park to take part in festivities and witness an amazing fireworks display. Ladies Getaway Galena: Spend the weekend relaxing and laughing with your BFFs with so many special events, shopping deals contests catered to ladies.  There will be prizes, Quartermania and adventure tours.

Mallardfest in Hanover: Celebrate fall with this Old-fashioned weekend festival, starting with a fish fry and everyone’s Birthday party on Friday night. Festivities start at 9 a.m. on Saturday morning with the Farmer’s market and continues through dusk with a parade at noon, inflatable obstacle course for kids and  activities all day.  A variety of live music starts at 2 p.m. with Ten Gallon Hat performing Southern Country-Rock for the evening.
